Kanye West Eyes More Red Than The Devil Is

New York based artist Borbay is back with his latest exhibit – #KingsOfHipHop.  Borbay has paid homage to 7 kings of Hip Hop: Kayne West, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, P. Diddy and Jay-Z.  He juxtaposes the concept of social media with the printed word. His criteria for selecting the 7 kings included the artists being big proponents of social media but also with an entrepreneurial spirit.  Each piece captures the essence of the subject both visually and textually – both in their music and their real life antics.   The opening night reception at Publicis Modem in New York was really fun and I spotted artists Wonder Lee, Ari Lankin and Jeremy Penn in the crowd.

#KingsOfHipHop by Borbay runs through October 15, 2011 at Publicis Modem (located at 85 Tenth Avenue, 3rd Floor in New York).  Don’t miss it.  After the jump see a photo of Borbay and G!

Nosaj Thing live at Le Poisson Rouge

Jason Chung is Nosaj Thing.

California native (yay Cali!) Nosaj Thing opened for DJ Flying Lotus at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge on March 30, 2010.  Born Jason Chung, Nosaj Thing mixes elements of hip-hop and funk with his own “warped beats.”  The sold out crowd got their groove on as they waited until the very late hour of 1:30 for Lotus to take over on DJing duties.  As Nosaj Thing is only 24 years old, you can expect to see a lot more of him in the future on top of the throne of great DJs.  If you head on over to his site, you can download free mp3s of his remixes of “Islands” by The XX and “Forever” by Drake featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem.

Pasadena is in the house! Woot!

See some more artsy pix of Nosaj Thing, doing his thing, after the break (beat).
