Cuteness alert! British artist Dan Black played for the second time in New York City on February 18, 2010 at the Mercury Lounge in the Lower East Side. I read a review that called him the “male LaRoux,” so naturally, I was excited to see if Dan Black would deliver. The answer – YES! Not only is Dan Black a total cutie pie, but his music is electronic and soulful. He raps and he also wears interesting outfits, which he told the sold-out crowd “is fashion.” I’ll let you decide when you see a picture of his entire outfit after the jump. Though his debut album “((UN))” was only released in the United States earlier this week, that didn’t stop the crowd from singing along to every word of every song. It was pretty impressive. His biggest hit to date, “Symphonies,” borrows the music of Rhianna’s smash “Umbrella,” and the original version (which you can see on ‘the you tube’ as Dan Black calls it), features the lyrics of the Notorious BIGs “Hypnotize.” He had to change the lyrics for the record as he was sued by Biggie’s estate. No biggie though for Dan Black as he rocked the crowd, jumped around all over the stage and prepared the world for his impending superstardom.
