2015 got off to a slow start musically, but as the ice starts to melt in New York, Toronto’s Young Empires are heating things up. Earlier this year, in association with Coors Altitude, their first new song in quite a while, the ultra infectious “So Cruel,” became a Youtube sensation, chalking up close to a million views. See video below and you will see why it’s so popular.
March 30, 2015 will see the worldwide release of another new Young Empires song, “The Gates.” They are offering an exclusive preview of the track on their Instagram page (link will open in a new window). You can also follow them on Soundcloud.
Welcome back, Young Empires! We’ve missed you!

“Picked Off” – Starts Wednesday, July 10, 2012 on The History Channel.
TV Lovers! Get ready for a really cool show from the producers of “American Pickers.” If you are unfamiliar with “American Pickers,” here’s a brief primer: Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz travel around America in search of antiques and treasures. The show is fascinating and it appeals to all ages.
“Picked Off” takes “American Pickers” to the next level as treasure hunters will go head-to-head in a series of elimination challenges to find items they think will fetch top market value. Four teams begin with $100 each to spend on one item…and the clock is ticking. Teams dig through barns and meet interesting characters all in pursuit of the perfect pick. The grand prize is $10,000 and every episode takes place in a different locale.
“Picked Off,” a new 6-part competition series, begins on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 ET on the History Channel. Don’t miss it and tell a friend!
“Picked Off” is produced for History by Cineflix (Top Collector) Inc. Susan Werbe is Executive Producer for History. Executive Producers for Cineflix are Simon Lloyd, Mark Poertner and Charles Tremayne. Stephen Pettinger is Co-Executive Producer and Julie Cooper is the Supervising Producer.

Hanni El Khatib
There’s no other way to say it – Hanni El Khatib rocks! He packed the house at New York’s Mercury Lounge on April 28, 2012 for a night of rock, punk, soul and doo-wop! Yes, doo-wop! Hanni’s music seamlessly blends all these styles of music together and I make sure to see him every time he tours because I think he is a great performer. I talked to him before the show and pleaded with him to release a live album, because I don’t think studio recordings can capture the raw intensity of his sound.

Speaking of the studio, he mentioned that he’ll be hitting the studio very soon with an A-List producer. I won’t mention any names, but let’s just say this band recently sold out two nights at Madison Square Garden. Stay tuned! Hanni El Khatib added another member to his band (guitars, keyboards), so their live sound is even fuller now. Hanni played songs such as “Dead Wrong,” “Come Alive,” “Build. Destroy. Rebuild.,” “Garbage City” and “I Got A Thing” during his hour long set. The show ended at 1 am, but time stands still when you are rockin’! Thanks for another great show Hanni!
PS. I am loving Hanni El Khatib’s new logo!
