Patrick Cleandenim - Puttin' on the Ritz.

I saw Patrick Cleandenim on March 17 and 18, 2010 when he opened for Scissor Sisters at the Bowery Ballroom.  Typically, the Sisters have really wacky opening acts such as Wigs on Sticks, which was literally – wigs affixed to sticks, while 60’s style doo-wop music played in the background.  Patrick Cleandenim, on the other hand, was a breath of fresh air as he brought his debonair style and 80’s/electro-pop/swing music to these sold out shows.  That’s a great mix of genres, according2g.  Standing on a light box and dancing like nobody was looking, Patrick Cleandenim played a brief 5 song set that was part Bobby Darin and part Gary Numan.  The setlist was:

Stage Fright
City Lights
Little Baby Party
The Show

All songs were taken from his 2nd full length album “Orange Moonbeam Floorshow.”  You can purchase the album here and I highly recommend it!

You can download a few free mp3s from his 2006 album “Baby Comes Home” here.

And if that is not enough, Patrick himself wrote me (and thanks for that Patrick!) to share with you a special link that has a free download of  3 new demos he’s working on for an upcoming album.  The tracks “Even I,” “In My Baby’s Eyes” and “Radio Heartbreak” can be downloaded for free  for a limited time, but you have to pinky-swear-promise-me you’ll buy his album!  It’s worth it and you know I’d never steer you wrong. If you’re tired of all that radio Gaga, how about some Cleandenim?

Jake Shears and Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters

The Scissor Sisters played their second of 2 sold out shows on March 18, 2010 at New York’s Bowery Ballroom and it was equally as amazing as the first night.  While the set list stayed the same and there were no surprise guests, the crowd went wild as the Sisters performed new tracks and old favorites.  I’ll never understand why they are not selling out stadiums in their native US like they do all over the world, but seeing them at a small venue time and time again makes me wish they played every night.  The energy that Jake Shears and Ana Matronic bring to the show makes it feel like they are performing in an arena, yet the shows were very intimate.  They ran through hits like “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing,” “She’s My Man,” “Tits on the Radio,” “Laura,” “Comfortably Numb,” and of course, “Filthy/Gorgeous.”  They also played nine new songs and all of them are going to be club thumpers.  Their 3rd album is set to be released in July and based on the live renditions of the new tracks, it’s going to be really hot.
