Marilyn Monroe's Grave in California

Marilyn Monroe’s Grave in California

On June 1, we remember the birthday of one of the most iconic actresses of all time, Marilyn Monroe.  Her image is everywhere, decades after her death and where you don’t see her, you see people emulating her looks and her style.  I will never forget the first time I visited her grave (in Westwood, California).  You’d think that the resting place of one of the most famous icons would be ultra chic and instead, it looks as you see above.  It was a huge wake up call for me that day.  We have such little time on this planet to make our marks, so we must live life to the fullest each day because one day (and one day soon), we won’t be here!  Since that life changing moment, I’ve started to take more chances and really take advantage of what this planet has to offer.  Hopefully you are doing the same.  And if you are not, remember tomorrow is a new day….

Bob Monroe? Marilyn Marley? Marley Monroe?

Glad to see that this artist has raised the stakes a tiny bit when overusing two of the most overused icons in art.

Happy 85th Birthday, Marilyn Monroe

Sex goddess, actress and over-used art icon Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926.  I love seeing her immortalized in art because pretty much every image of her is iconic, but please artists – can you find another muse?!  Her candle burned out long before her legend ever did… we get it!

Also born today – singer Alanis Morissette, actor Morgan Freeman and singer Pat Boone.
