Art is making a slow return to New York after being very slow this summer.  In that vein, Jonathan LeVine Gallery has a fresh new group exhibit which is a sign of the times (pun definitely intended) called “Detourement.”

The Perry Rubenstein Gallery in New York has a great exhibit called “Shred,” and I recommend you check it out.  The exhibit features work by lots of my favorite artists including Faile, Swoon, Elbow Toe, Shepard Fairey, Dash Snow and Leo Fitzpatrick, just to name a few.  As the title of this exhibit suggests, the artists have shredded the commonly perceived notions of the narratives of art.  The results are fantastic and as you will see in this exhibit, these artists have found beauty in things that are otherwise very ugly.  Shred runs through August 27, 2010 and the Perry Rubenstein Gallery is located at 527 West 23rd Street in New York.

See more greatness after the jump.
