I thought I had great seats for the first night of Depeche Mode’s 2-night stand at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but tonight my seats were ridiculous!  I was in section 1 on the floor of the arena and it was another dream come true.

The setlist (which you can see after the jump) was pretty much the same, but last night, Martin Gore performed “Little Soul” and “Home” and tonight he did “Jezebel” and “A Question of Lust.”  Also, last night, they played “Come Back” and tonight they played “Miles Away/The Truth is.”  Both nights were fantastic! The crowd was every bit as into it as they were last night as Depeche Mode rocked the Garden again.

Depeche Mode – Live at Madison Square Garden

Depeche Mode rocked Madison Square Garden tonight, August 3, 3009 in New York City.  After a great, but short set by Peter Bjorn and John, Depeche Mode took the stage at 8:55 pm and played for just under two hours.

The crowd went wild during each song as Depeche Mode concerts are legendary for being audience sing-alongs. {Setlist spoiler alert}

While they didn’t dig too deep into their catalog, focusing primarily on tracks off their most recent “Sounds of The Universe” cd, they pulled out old classics such as “Master and Servant,” “A Question of Time,” “Never Let Me Down Again,” “Stripped,” and my favorite song of the night, “Fly On The Windscreen.”

Enjoy some more pictures.

Considering lead singer Dave Gahan recently recovered from surgery and a pulled muscle, you’d never know it by the way he spun around on stage and interacted with the crowd.

Sounds of the Universe - Out Now!

Sounds of the Universe - Out Now!

In a rather bold move, considering these tough economic times, Depeche Mode’s latest album “Sounds Of The Universe,” has been released in a limited edition deluxe box set format.  Is it worth the hefty price tag?  You bet! The box set comes with 2 Hardcover books that include exclusive photos, full lyrics, the album, the album in 5.1 Surround Sound – that also includes two lengthy video documentaries, postcards, pins, a poster, a certificate of authenticity and a disc of b-sides and remixes as well as a full length cd of demos from various stages of their career!

Oh Well

Oh Well

The demos are particularly interesting as you get to hear Martin Gore’s vocals on tracks that were made famous by Dave Gahan.  Songs such as “Little 15,” “Walking in my Shoes,” “Clean,” and even the recent track “In Chains,” are in full demo-glory and are available only in this package. The B-sides and remixes disc features the track “Oh Well,” which is easily the best track Depeche Mode have released in a very long time.  Again, you can only get that here.  If you are a Depeche Mode fan, this box is for you!
