Singer/Songwriter Brendan Benson packed the house at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on May 5, 2012.  To say the show was a family affair is putting it mildly.  Brendan’s manager greeted fans as the doors opened and Benson was seen in the crowd before the show mingling with fans, rocking out to the music and guesting on drums during the opening band’s (The Howling Brothers) set.  Though Brendan Benson is not a household name, his musical resume is very impressive with over 5 solo albums, he’s a member of The Raconteurs and is a frequent collaborator with rock god Jack White.

Brendan’s hour long set was a nice introduction to his music, for those that were unfamiliar with his catalog, and he played tracks such as “Good to Me” from his 2002 album “Lapalco,” which brought some of the loudest cheers of the night.  Brendan’s latest album “What Kind of World” was released at the end of May 2012 and he played many tracks from the new album to the delight of his fans.  You can see the full set list after the jump.  Thanks for a great night Brendan!

Matt Bomer and Geoffrey Dicker

Matt Bomer and Geoffrey Dicker

I’m going to have to thank the universe for this extremely random encounter.  On May 5, 2011, I walked out of my apartment to find a film crew taking up nearly every inch of my street.  A sign was posted right in front of the building I live in saying that “White Collar,” starring Matt Bomer was being filmed.  Did you think I was going to pass up a chance to meet a man this beautiful within inches of my house?  Not a chance?!  My great sense of timing was on my side once again and I was advised that Matt would be finished filming within ten minutes.  Best ten minutes I’ve ever spent!  Almost on the dot, ten minutes later, Matt Bomer was walking back to his trailer and I met the actor.  I don’t think it’s possible that he could have been any nicer.  I did all I could to refrain from dropping to the ground and attaching myself to his leg.  You know I’m not religious, but – JESUS CHRIST!  What a hottie!  Thanks so much Matt – for being super cool and for giving me the inspiration to make sure I go to the gym every single day for the rest of my life!
