KAWS and G

The other day, I went by The Standard hotel in New York to check out KAWS’ first outdoor sculpture entitled “Passing Through.”  It was still being installed for the grand opening being held on June 11, 2011. When I arrived, my good luck found KAWS celebrating his great work.  The sculpture was first exhibited in Hong Kong, before it passed through to the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.  It’ll be in New York all summer, and it’s really cool, so definitely check it out in person if you are passing through the Meat Packing District.  Thanks KAWS!

Beau vs. Mr. Brainwash?

Beau vs. Mr. Brainwash

I’ve been seeing images from street artist Beau popping up everywhere and as that is a pretty common series of letters in a Google search, it’s hard to find information to present to you, so I hope you’ll settle for the image.  He tagged a Mr. Brainwash mural in the Meat Packing District of New York, and unlike the really ugly graffiti covering up Shepard Fairey’s May Day mural across town, Beau is reaching out to MBW by saying “hey!”  I quite like it.
