Iggy Pop by Mick Rock
Even if you don’t know Mick Rock’s name, you surely know his photos. Mick Rock has photographed everyone from David Bowie to Truman Capote to Lady Gaga. Iconic album covers from Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Queen have been shot by Mick Rock and the artist is celebrating his amazing career with an exhibit at Chair And The Maiden (CATM) in Chelsea. The exhibit features vintage Mick Rock photos as well as Mick Rock’s artistic reinterpretations of some of his most famous works.

Life On Mars Revisited by David Bowie, Mick Rock, Barney Clay
The Creators Project is an event not to be missed. Last year, I attended the inaugural launch party in New York and it was one of the best events I’ve ever been to. It was at Milk Studios in Chelsea and it featured 12 hours of music and art installations. This year, they switched it up a little bit and held the festivities over 2 days and in Brooklyn, spread out across multiple locations in Dumbo. Gone were the free alcohol and food, but the art was pretty interesting. Most installations were made with cutting edge technology and it was surely a stimuli overload for the good.

The weather was slightly chilly, but it was a gorgeous day to wander around and discover one cool art installation after another. These photos you see don’t represent how cool each installation was, including the top photo of being engulfed by larger than life cinema screens featuring a tripped out remixed video of David Bowie’s “Life On Mars.”

You were encouraged to interact with the art, which is always welcome in my book, as you will see in the next photo. The Creators Project also runs October 16, 2011 by RSVP only. Hopefully you got your confirmation because you will not want to miss this!
