The Photography of Curt Gunther - The Beatles at the Morrison Hotel in New York. Now through July 18, 2010.

The Morrison Hotel Gallery has done it again!  They are currently presenting the photography of the late Curt Gunther, who took some iconic, but rarely seen photos of The Beatles.  The exhibit boasts dozens of great prints of John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney – the beloved Beatles.  Just when you thought you’d seen everything, the Morrison Hotel Gallery has stunning photos from the Beatles 1964 American Tour that are sure to be new to you.  Susan Brandt of the the Morrison Hotel Gallery told me on my recent visit that after Curt Gunther passed away, his son discovered these photos and complied this collection to honor the memory of his late father.  The results are an amazing tribute to a man who had access to intimate moments with four guys from Liverpool who are arguably bigger than… well, nevermind.  Thanks for the information Susan!  If you are in the New York area and you love the Fab 4, you owe it to yourself to take a trip to the Morrison Hotel Gallery to see this wonderful exhibit.  The Morrison Hotel Gallery is located at 124 Prince Street in New York.  The Photography of Curt Gunther runs though July 18, 2010.  Don’t miss it!

Jim Morrison at the Morrison Hotel

Jim Morrison by Joel Brodsky at the Morrison Hotel in New York.

Only in my life could a place called the Morrison Hotel be located on Prince Street (my two favorite singers of all time)!  The Morrison Hotel is not just a place – it’s an amazing art gallery that has all kinds of amazing rock and roll ephemera and their current exhibit (at the location on 124 Prince Street) is one of the late Joel Brodsky, who captured so many iconic images of Jim Morrison.  You are probably familiar with the images, but when you see the prints blown up, you might wet yourself as I did.  The photos look like they were taken yesterday and they are simply stunning to feast your eyes on.  Since the photos are copy written, I was allowed to take gallery view shots and present them to you.  If you are a fan of The Doors, you owe it to yourself to catch this exhibit – it will really light your fire.  Check the Morrison Hotel Gallery website for more details.

Adam Green at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York.

To celebrate the success and final night of Adam Green’s massively successful art show, “Teen Tech,” the singer performed a rare acoustic/acapella set at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York on May 2, 2010.  Before the set, I talked with the singer and as usual, he was super cool.  He said that his inspiration for the pieces in this exhibit were “a cross between MC Escher and Banksy.”  He also told me that his next work is going to be a painting on a 9 foot door.  Can’t wait to see that!  Keep checking the Morrison Hotel’s site for updates on upcoming exhibits – including a Joel Brodsky exhibit!  What better place is there to see Jim Morrison photos than the Morrison Hotel?!

See some more pictures of Adam Green as well as a video of him performing “Give Them A Token (Acoustic)” after a word from our sponsor.

Adam Green live at the Bowery Ballroom

Adam Green

On April 24, 2010, sometimes singer of Moldy Peaches and fabulous artist, Adam Green performed at the Bowery Ballroom in New York and set the place on fire!  Backed by the band The Dead Trees (who were also one of two opening acts – and more on them coming soon), Adam Green had so much charisma on stage, it was definitely a night to remember.  The banner behind the stage said “Justin Bieber Live,” which was also pretty cool.  He covered every square foot of the stage, dancing around, playing guitar, ripping off his shirt with the aid of an audience member and he jumped into the crowd multiple times. He had a fair amount to drink, but was able to pull off the show like a pro.  I’ve had a lot of wacky concert experiences, but what I am about to tell you probably takes the cake. Picture it:  I was standing in the front row (not a shock, I know) entranced, watching Adam’s great stage presence (which was a cross between Jim Morrison and Freddie Mercury!)  Though Adam Green is heterosexual (from what I’ve read on the net), during the 3rd or 4th song, he leaned in towards me and kissed me!  The moment happened really quickly, but I definitely saw people flashing pictures during that moment, so if you’ve got one of those pictures, please hit me up!  Apparently, Adam is getting divorced, so if you are out there Adam – I’m single, but I won’t be for long, so here’s your chance.  :) Finally, great news about his art show:  due to popular demand, the Morrison Hotel Gallery has extended the run for another week, so I highly recommend that you see it.  I met Adam backstage after the show and I’ll be posting that story very soon, so stay tuned.

Adam Green. Sex. Sex. Sex.
