A month ago, I posted a story about a lost duck in the New York area.  Sadly, over 30 days later, the duck is still missing.  If you have any information on this duck, please report it to your local authorities at according2g.com.  Thanks!

DJ Friar Tuck - The Monk with the Funk!

The other night I met one of New York’s hottest DJs, Friar Tuck  (and I agree in more ways than one).  He’s the monk with the funk!  He  is one of the most famous DJs in the city and he’s also a total cutie pie!  Friar Tuck embodies two things I love: talent and cuteness.  Check out his website for all of his latest gigs, because if he’s not spinning at the party you are at, you can rest assured you are not at the hottest club of the night.  His website often features mp3s of mixes he’s made so keep checking his site for all the latest news and performance dates from the funkiest monk in New York City.

Chita Rivera at the Allen Room

Chita Rivera sings the American Songbook at the Allen Room in NYC on March 6, 2010

Legendary singer Chita Rivera performed at New York’s Allen Room  as part of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series on March 6, 2010 and she showed the adoring crowd why she is a legend.  The 76 year old two-time Tony award winning singer didn’t take a break during her 80 minute set, where she guided us on a journey of her fantastic career.  She sang songs from her most beloved performances (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Chicago, West Side Story), told anecdotes about all stages of her career and constantly joked about her age.  She went on to prove that age is just a number as her performance is much more rigorous than rock shows I’ve seen performed by people in their 20s, and she pulled it off like a true diva (without the attitude)!  If you’ve never been to the Allen Room, it’s located in the Time Warner Center on 59th and Broadway on the 6th floor and as the room is surrounded by glass, it overlooks the busy and colorful intersection.  Not only was the performance great, but the space added such great ambience.  The performance was recorded to be broadcast in the future, so look for it – it was so great!

The set list for Chita Rivera’s American Songbook performance was:

Mambo Overture

I Won’t Dance/Let Me Sing

West Side Story Medley

Sweet Happy Life

I Don’t Remember You (from The Happy Time)

Kiss of the Spider Woman Medley

Where Am I Going (from Sweet Charity)

Camille, Collette, Fifi (from Seventh Heaven)

Not Exactly Paris

Carousel

Love and Love Alone (from The Visit)

More Than You Know

A Woman The World Has Never Seen (from Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life)

Nowadays (from Chicago)

All That Jazz (from Chicago)

Circle of Friends

Happy Valentine's Day!

To all the lovers out there, According2g would like to wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day!

The above photo was taken at the Keszler Gallery in New York City and I think these are the best candy hearts of all time.

If you are on a Blackberry, I-phone, or if your eye-sight is really bad, here’s what these hearts say, but they will be revealed after the jump because the language used is definitely NSFCMP (not safe for closed-minded people):

G Meets Carrie Fisher!

Not the greatest angle for G and Carrie Fisher!

Not the greatest angle for G and Carrie Fisher!

Here’s a sentence I am elated to say:  I met and took my picture with Princess Leia at Studio 54!

Carrie Fisher is performing a 1-woman show called “Wishful Drinking” at the Roundabout Theater in the legendary Studio 54.  The show is based on her hilarious book of the same title and both will have you on the ground laughing from start to finish.  She tells how she became an alcoholic and drug addict by telling hilarious stories from growing up with Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher as her parents to getting cast in Star Wars, playing Princess Leia, the success of the film, how the experience of seeing her likeness as a pez dispenser, blow up doll etc. can really mess with your head, to marrying Paul Simon.  You cannot even begin to imagine how many insane things this woman has seen and done in her brief 52 year life.  She was also married to a homosexual (and had a kid with him) and a person (also gay) died in her bed recently.  She’s publicly spoken out about being Bipolar and her picture is even in textbooks about the disorder.  Wow!  You can read more about the show and get tickets here.

As a life long fan of the Star Wars movies, it was incredible to see her open up on some insider stories about the films (like the fact that George Lucas didn’t allow her to wear a bra because he said “they don’t have bras in space.  If they did, it would choke the women to death because there’s no gravity”) and even recited her infamous scene from Star Wars where she delivers a message via videogram inside R2 to Obi Wan Kenobi about why R2D2 and C3p0 need to be delivered safely to Alderan!

I recommend this show if you are interested in any of the above things because she talks about all of them in length.  The show runs until January, 2010, so get your tickets before it’s too late!

See a couple more pix after the jump.
