On March 21, 2011, the English folk/rock band Noah and the Whale played their first of 2 sold out shows at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.  Opening the show was 22 year old Luke Rathborne, whose sound was a nice mix of Bob Dylan and Lou Reed.  Noah and the Whale have been around since 2006 and the world is finally starting to take notice of the 5 piece band after the success of their latest single “L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.”  I enjoyed what I heard and don’t let the “folk” label scare you away because Noah and the Whale rocked.  Lead singer Charlie Fink introduced every song to the audience (sometimes with an anecdote) and the crowd was loving what they heard.  Fun fact about Noah and the Whale:  the band takes their name from the movie “The Squid and the Whale” which was directed by Noah Baumbaugh.
