Hank Sullivant of Kuroma

November 18, 2010 was a great night for music!  I saw a trio of great live  psychedelic rock bands at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.  The night began with Kuroma followed by Stardeath and White Dwarfs and Tame Impala).  Lead singer Hank Sullivant has previously been in The Whigs as well as a touring member of MGMT before forming his own band, Kuroma.  Speaking of MGMT, MGMT’s lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden was at the show catching all the action.  You can see a spy picture I took of VanWyngarden here.  Kuroma’s music is all over the place but one thing is sure, they rock!  You can listen to their album “Psychopomp” on their official website (link is above) and I highly recommend it.

I met lead singer Hank Sullivant after Kuroma’s awesome set and he was very nice.  You can see a photo of that encounter after the jump.  Thanks again to Hank and Kuroma for turning me into a fan!

Josh Groban and G

Regardless of the fact that singer Josh Groban has sold more records than God, he is such a nice guy!  He’s sung with a who’s who of musicians, has performed all over the world and has donated a lot of money to charity.  He was in New York performing a show at Town Hall in support of his latest album “Illuminations.” When I met him, it completely slipped my mind to tell him how amazing it was to see him perform with Aretha Franklin last year at Nelson Mandela’s birthday concert.  Maybe he’s reading this?  If so, thanks again for your wonderful talent and for being a really cool guy!
