Nellie McKay and G

On October 12, 2010 singer Nellie McKay performed at The Greene Space in New York for a live webcast that also featured Mark Ronson and the Business Int’l.  Nellie is so talented as her music ranges from jazz to rap to disco to funk!  She performed 3 tracks from her latest album “Home Sweet Mobile Home.”  Nellie talked about the fact that she designed the album cover and “mobile” refers not just to mobile homes, but also to Mobile, Alabama – a source of inspiration for the album.  She was really quirky and funny during her interview and she was extremely nice when I met her after the performance.  Thanks again Nellie!

Stephen Jerzak

On October 12, 2010, alt-pop singer Stephen Jerzak opened for Mike Posner at Irving Plaza in New York.  His music was fun to listen to and the crowd was diggin’ it as well.  I’ve been reading that he’s recorded a duet with Leighton Meester, so I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until he becomes a household name. Stephen Jerzak’s drummer played the shit out of the drums!  He was really great!  I saw him as I was exiting the venue and I complimented his skills. Good luck to Stephen Jerzak.

Mike Posner

One thing I can say say about singer Mike Posner’s sold out show at New York’s Irving Plaza on October 12, 2010 – you got a lot for the $25 ticket price + $8 in Ticketbastards fees.  Posner had a staggering 5 opening acts that included rapper XV, Hip-Hop group Bad Rabbit, Alt-Pop singer Stephen Jerzak, Alt-Pop band 2AM Club and electro-pop group Far East Movement. More on each band coming soon – I am only one person who in addition to seeing these 6 bands saw two other bands in the morning – it’s exhausting thinking of all the writing I need to do to provide my fabulous readers with world exclusive content 7 days a week, but it will happen!

Mike Posner - Rock Star!

Two rare things at the Mike Posner concert were guys and people over age 18, but a great time was had by all.  He took the stage just before 10 pm and the screaming teenage girls ate up every second of the pop star.  His voice to me sounds a lot like Justin Timberlake and truthfully, you could do a lot worse when you walk into a concert knowing literally nothing about what you are about to see as I did tonight.  Almost every song was a sing-a-long, Posner actually posed on the stage for several minutes to thunderous screaming from the ladies in the room and he even brought up a girl on stage to dance with him.  Though his music seems a bit young for my taste, I cannot deny that the tracks were very catchy and I can see why he’s a hit with the ladies.  A video of “Drug Dealer Girl” is coming soon, so stay tuned for that.

See another picture and the setlist after the jump.
