Gary Go live at the United Palace Theater - October 16, 2009
On October 16, 2009, British singer Gary Go opened for Mika at the United Palace Theater in New York. You might know him from supporting acts such as Lady Gaga or Take That’s most recent tour of the UK, but if you don’t, his music is pretty mellow, along the same vibes as Keane or The Script. If you don’t know those bands, well I can’t help ya. Here’s a fun fact about Gary Go: He wrote most of the lyrics for the song “the Heart Balloon,” by asking his Twitter followers to submit a line for the song.

On October 16, 2009, Mika played a sold out show at the United Palace Theater. I was on hand for the festivities as Mika played songs from his albums “Life In Cartoon Motion” and “The Boy Who Knew Too Much.” The audience was comprised mostly of screaming teenage girls, and Mika gave them a lot to scream about. He dances all over the stage – barefoot – while making everybody enjoy his crafty pop songs. If you don’t know his music, he’s got a little bit of Freddie Mercury meets Jake Shears in his voice. I was very happy when he played “Pick Up Off The Floor” and “Love Today” and he also performed hits “Grace Kelly,” “Lollipop,” “We Are Golden,” and “Billy Brown,” plus new songs “Dr. John,” “Rain,” and “Blame it on the Girls.”
Enjoy some more pictures of Mika and see the set list after the jump.
