Photos by G. Art by Judith Schaechter.
On May 22, 2010, I attended the opening of American artist Judith Schaechter’s latest exhibit – Beauty and the Beef – at the Claire Oliver Gallery in New York and it was quite a scene! This exhibit is her fourth solo exhibition at the gallery and it’s really cool. She makes stained glass lightboxes that fuse medieval images with current day themes. I was drawn in immediately by the vivid colors she uses in her work that are melded seamlessly with notions of sex and death. I encourage you to see this for yourself and draw your own conclusions. Beauty and the Beef runs from now through June 26, 2010 at the Claire Oliver Gallery in New York and is located at 513 West 26th Street.
See another image of Schaechter’s work as well as images from the opening night reception after the jump. Perhaps you can spot the artist in one of the pictures.
