Os Gemeos on display at PRISM in LA through September 4, 2010
Due to the timing of my vacation in Los Angeles, I am catching the tail end of a lot of exhibits, but it is my duty to share them with you. Rearrange your plans and make sure you catch “Come As You Are” at PRISM as it is only open until September 4, 2010. The exhibit features works by Susanne Melanie Berry, Kelsey Brookes, Clayton Brothers, Richard Coleman, Os Gemeos, Dennis Hopper, Barry McGee, Ryan McGinness, Cleon Peterson, Clare Rojas, Craig Stecyk, Deanna Templeton, and Ed Templeton. The space at PRISM is magnificent as well and on your visit, make sure you catch the Gustavo Godoy sculpture on the roof. PRISM is located at 8746 West Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.

Chalk it up to my uncanny sense of being at the right place at the right time (and thanks Universe for your guidance!), because it has landed me in an another amazing situation. On August 8, 2010, I was on a walk through Chelsea in New York when I saw two of my favorite artists, Os Gemeos, the Brazilian brothers, working on their latest mural! At the same time as I arrived on the scene, photographer Martha Cooper was also arriving. The Pandalfo brothers took a quick break to greet Martha and when I’d asked for a photo op, she volunteered to take my picture with them! Wow! That is a double bonus of epic proportions! Go to Google Images to check out more pictures of Os Gemeos’ work. The murals they make all over the world are truly amazing. For those who don’t speak Portuguese, the correct pronunciation of Os Gemeos is “ose zhe’-mee-ose.” Thanks again guys and thanks to Martha Cooper for the great photos!

The Giant Project by Os Gemeos!
International art superstars and the team of Brazilian brothers (Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo) Os Gemeos are making an enormous mural at the P.S. 11 School in Chelsea, New York tentatively titled “the Giant Project.” I was on hand to catch a bit of the action. The not-so-secret location is 21st Street between 8th and 9th Avenue. New Yorkers will know the work of Os Gemeos as they have a mural up on Bowery and Houston which is currently the home of the Shepard Fairey May Day Mural. I met the brothers and the story of my encounter with them will be coming soon.
Enjoy another picture and a 1 minute video of the making of this mural, after the jump. Don’t worry, as soon as the mural is completed, I’ll head back to the scene to show you how awesome it turned out.
