The Photography of Curt Gunther - The Beatles at the Morrison Hotel in New York. Now through July 18, 2010.
The Morrison Hotel Gallery has done it again! They are currently presenting the photography of the late Curt Gunther, who took some iconic, but rarely seen photos of The Beatles. The exhibit boasts dozens of great prints of John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney – the beloved Beatles. Just when you thought you’d seen everything, the Morrison Hotel Gallery has stunning photos from the Beatles 1964 American Tour that are sure to be new to you. Susan Brandt of the the Morrison Hotel Gallery told me on my recent visit that after Curt Gunther passed away, his son discovered these photos and complied this collection to honor the memory of his late father. The results are an amazing tribute to a man who had access to intimate moments with four guys from Liverpool who are arguably bigger than… well, nevermind. Thanks for the information Susan! If you are in the New York area and you love the Fab 4, you owe it to yourself to take a trip to the Morrison Hotel Gallery to see this wonderful exhibit. The Morrison Hotel Gallery is located at 124 Prince Street in New York. The Photography of Curt Gunther runs though July 18, 2010. Don’t miss it!

The Last Temptation of Elvis - Starring Paul McCartney!
I saw this photo a few months ago when I was in California. It’s interesting to note that the Beatles and Elvis had a rivalry, so it’s extra strange to see Paul McCartney dressed as Elvis.
Star Wars and Star Trek fans have a rivalry as do Elvis and Beatles fans. The unofficial theory is that you either like one or the other, but rarely both. What side of the fence are you on?
I sway way more on the Beatles side in case you were wondering.
PS. Tickets go on sale today for Sir Paul’s March 30th show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Enjoy! Go to ticketbastards.com for details and kiss your paycheck goodbye… but he’s a Beatle. It’s worth it!

Paul McCartney by G
Paul McCartney played the first ever concert at Citi Field, formerly known as the parking lot across from Shea Stadium tonight in Queens, New York. Shea Stadium, if you’ll recall, was where the Beatles played the largest gig ever in the United States in 1964.
We braved the pouring rain as Paul played hit after hit from the Beatles and Wings on this historic night. He hit the stage around 9 pm and played for a solid 2 and a half hours. Don’t worry if you missed this show, it was recorded for a future live DVD release.
Macca dedicated songs to John Lennon, George Harrison and Linda McCartney, though kept silent about Michael Jackson. Billy Joel guested on stage during “I Saw Her Standing There.” It was a night to remember.

Penis Hat by Paul McCarthy. Photo by G
No, this work of art is not done by that famous Beatle Paul McCartney. It’s done instead by Paul McCarthy. It can be seen in living color at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Check it out!
