Neil Tennant

According2g would like to wish Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys a very happy 56th birthday!  Neil Tennant is responsible for countless songs that have made my life a better place.  I love Pet Shop Boys today as much as I did 25 years ago and it’s mind blowing to me that they continue to make music that is still so great.  It’s too hard to name a favorite song, but to celebrate today, I’ll be listening to “More Than A Dream,” “Paninaro,” “My October Symphony,” and “Legacy.”  Thanks for the wonderful music Neil and have a wonderful day!  What’s your favorite song by Pet Shop Boys?  I’ll still love you if you say “West End Girls,” but if that is what you’re thinking, explore their catalog – it’s amazing!

Bad news for US fans of the Pet Shop Boys!  Their live album/DVD, Pandemonium has been pushed back to March 23.  It drops everywhere else in the world one month before on February 15.  Based on the tracklist and bonus materials, it’ll surely be worth the wait.  You can read details of what will be included in the set here.

G Meets Frankmusik!

Frankmusik and G

When I was in La-La Land last week, I met the very awesome Vincent Frank, known better as Frankmusik.  He hasn’t broken big yet in the United States, so he was quite surprised that I recognized him.  You might know his remixes though, as he’s remixed everyone from Lady Gaga to the Pet Shop Boys.  I saw him open for the Pet Shop Boys at the O2 Arena in London in June last year, and I got the opportunity to tell him how much I enjoyed the show and his album.  He was super nice and he also told me a bit of big news… he’s in Los Angeles at the moment recording a new album!  His Twitter account left a cryptic message recently saying that he’s “out of here and doesn’t know if or when he’ll be back.”  He was voted as Pop Justice’s Prettiest Male of 2009.  If you don’t know his music, he could possibly be described as having a Justin Timberlake sound and his album “Complete Me” has so many radio friendly singles, it sounds like a greatest hits album.  Check out the video to “3 Little Words” below (possibly my favorite track off the album).

G’s Top Albums of the Decade (Part 2)

G's top albums of the decade - Part 2.

G's top albums of the decade - Part 2.

Here’s the long awaited second installment of my favorite albums of the decade. It’s hard to see from the above picture, but I was fortunate enough to get 7 out of these 9 albums autographed (the two exceptions are Radiohead and MGMT), and I saw all of these bands/singers live on the tours promoting these albums.  Thanks universe!  Again, these are not in order because I love them all.  Read more after the jump.

Congratulations to The Pet Shop Boys who were nominated for a Grammy this morning for Best Dance Album for “Yes.”  They are up against Lady Gaga, sigh.

A full list of Grammy nominees can be seen here.
