New York! You have one more day to check out a very unique art show. M.A.N.Y. (Murals Around New York) and the street art site Vandalog have put on a four day only pop up show – in an apartment! The show is entitled “Up Close and Personal” and you can get up close and personal with the works of some of the hottest street artists in the world. The show features Aiko, Chris Stain, Clown Soldier, Don Leicht, Edible Genius, Elbowtoe, Gaia, How & Nosm, Jessica Angel, John Fekner, Know Hope, Logan Hicks, Mike Ballard, OverUnder, R. Robot, Radical, Retna, Skewville, Tristan Eaton, Troy Lovegates aka Other and White Cocoa.
“Up Close and Personal“ opens May 12th from 7-9pm. It will also be open from 7-9pm on the 13th; noon-9pm and noon-7pm on the 14th and 15th respectively. The show is taking place at 217 West 106th Street, Apartment 1A, in New York– Between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues. I’ve been a big fan of Vandalog for a while and it was really cool to have a chance to speak with RJ Rushmore who runs the site. As you can expect, he is an encyclopedia of street art and was more than happy to chat with me about our mutual love for the genre.
The show closes on May 15, 2011, so you only have one more day to check it out.

Exciting news for fans of Penguin Prison! Hot on the heels of their massively successful tour with Girl Talk, Penguin Prison return to New York for a special one off show at Tammany Hall. If you haven’t seen Penguin Prison in concert, I urge you to do so! Lead singer Chris Glover has an amazingly soulful voice, every song is pop/dance perfection and the guy is known to play the electric guitar behind his head! There are not too many bands that I’ll see every time they come around but Penguin Prison are one of them!
The show will be at Tammany Hall on February 3, 2011. Find out all the details and get your tickets at this link. They are going to sell out quick, so act fast! See you there!

Brokeback Mountain. One On One Action!
I have good news and bad news. The good news is Anthony Michael Sneed’s exhibit Hell For Hire at Artjail in New York was really awesome. The bad news is that the one night only pop-up show can be seen by appointment only for the next month. That news is actually not too horrible, but it’s cold and late as I write this and I felt like being dramatic. As you can see from these photos, Anthony Michael Sneed’s work is really diverse. On display were a series of hilarious “Game Series Paintings” which are parodies of Nintendo Game covers. All of them were very clever and funny.
A series of untitled “shadow pieces” were also on display and they definitely bend the mind.
JFK The Game. Mind Blowing Fun!
Artjail is located at 50 Eldridge Street (6th Floor) in New York. I hope you’ll make an appointment and see these really cool works with your own eyes!
