Thom Yorke does not like UK Prime Minister David Cameron.  His dislike of the politician is so strong, Yorke was quoted as saying:

“Politics is not a fun thing to write about…I can’t say I love the idea of a banker liking our music, or David Cameron. I can’t believe he’d like [Radiohead’s last album] ‘King of Limbs’ much. But I also equally think, who cares?  As long as he doesn’t use it for his election campaigns, I don’t care. I’d sue the living shit out of him if he did.”  [source Dazed and Confused magazine via NME]

Quote of the Day: “Madonna is a C@@t” – Elton John

Oh dear.  Sir Elton has spoken out on his true feelings about Madonna and whether or not you agree, it’s pretty damn funny.

“Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen  to a bigger c***. If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a  record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a  great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But  no, she had to go and prove… she looks like a f****** fairground stripper. She’s  been horrible to Gaga.” – Elton John

Shirley Manson

“To take seven years off and see all the bands who came up after us, I think there were times when I did sit at home and think: ‘I don’t understand why I never felt I was good enough because I could smoke 99.9% of this bunch.'” – Shirley Manson of Garbage.

This quote comes from a larger interview and most of it is quote worthy.  Shirley Manson rocks!  Read the whole interview with Drowned in Sound here.

Tom Jones

I’ve been saying this for years and now someone whose voice can also make a difference is concurring!  Love!

Tom Jones has spoken out against American I-Dull Judge Simon Cowell in an interview with The Daily Mirror.  The icon has said ” I have problems when people who have never got up on a stage to sing judge those who do. Who are they to say? Simon Cowell is a record man, not a singer. How can someone give advice if he or she is not qualified?  It’s like critics who criticise actors, never having been on a stage. Or having a teacher not experienced in teaching.  There are loads of judges with experience in the record industry, but can’t sing.  They may work for a record company, but to have stood where that person is standing is a unique thing. That’s the difference. It frustrates me when people comment on others singing when they haven’t actually been there themselves. You’ve got the shows with record executives, people who are listening for commercial reasons and whether someone will sell.”

Pass it on!

Quote of the Day – Jonathan Pierce of The Drums on Kings of Leon

This actually might be the quote of the year!  When The Drums’ lead singer was recently interviwed by Clickmusic, they asked him what it was like supporting Kings of Leon on tour.  This is what Jonathan had to say:

“I would advise them to split up and stop making music. I don’t think they’re  really helping anybody – they’ve never made a song that’s really touched me in  any way. I think the less bands that are making bad music, the better. I can  only be honest! I honestly think that the new Britney Spears record is better  than their songs – it sounds like a really great pop song and that’s what I  really like. They’re very American bar rock and it’s not interesting, it doesn’t  affect me at all. That Sex is on Fire song is one of the worst songs I’ve heard  in my life. I would advice them to call it quits, definitely the best thing they  can do. I do have to say that Jared was a very kind man and he’s smarter than  he’s letting on. I don’t think he really enjoys the music that Kings of Leon are  putting out. I’ve had long conversations with him and he’s very open to me. He  has really great taste in music and likes really great bands – I think he looks  at Kings of Leon and it’s just a job that he has. I think that’s a really sad  place to be – going through the motions and collecting a pay check, especially  if you’re doing something that’s creative you know. To misrepresent yourself in  a creative atmosphere seems a little dark to me.” – Jonathan Pierce
