FKA Twigs (Tahliah Barnett) and Geoffrey Dicker

Hot new artist alert!  Tahliah Barnett, better known as FKA Twigs is a trip hop/R&B/pop singer from Britain and in addition to her gorgeous look, her music is infectious.  She performed a show at Glasslands in Brooklyn the other night and whilst she kept the mood going by virtually performing in the dark, that makes for horrible photos.  So in lieu of those, I will tell you that FKA stands for “formerly known as” since another artist named Twigs was upset that she took on the name Twigs, which refers to the sound her joints make when they crack.  Learn more about FKA Twigs on her website.  Best of luck to you Tahliah and I look forward to seeing you again!

Lorde and Geoffrey Dicker

Lorde!  The New Zealand born singer (real name: Ella Yelich-O’Connor) is on fire!  In addition to having released her debut album “Pure Heroine” this week, she’s burning up the charts with her single “Royals.”  She also has delivered her first US TV appearance and a trio of sold out New York shows.  Impressive accomplishments, but here’s something that sets her above the rest – Lorde is SIXTEEN years of age!  WOW!  Let us all bow down to Lorde, who will definitely be ruling the world by 2014.  All I ask is that you remain grounded and be as nice as you were to me during this extremely important week of your life.  Thanks Lorde and I wish you all the best!

When it comes to street artists, one of the pioneers in the genre is French artist Blek Le Rat.  He was spray-painting stencils on the streets when many of today’s street artists were not even sperm.  Blek Le Rat has a quite large and very cool exhibit at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York at the moment called “Ignorance is Bliss” and if you are interested in street art, this exhibit is a must see.

There are about 30 works in the exhibit and this marks his largest exhibit to date.  I’ve joined Instagram and you can see more photos from this exhibit on my Instagram page.  I’m “according2g” so please give me a follow.  You won’t regret it.

I was fortunate enough to meet Blek Le Rat at the opening night reception and he was extremely nice!  It was an honor to meet the man who was there at the beginning of a genre and is still going strong.  Thanks Xavier (aka Blek Le Rat)!

To celebrate the release of Ernest Greene (aka Washed Out)’s latest album “Paracosm,” Ernest hosted a few activities around the New York area.  I attended a pool party at the Thompson Hotel where we were treated to a DJ set by Washed Out.  The set was not too far removed from the “chill wave” style of music that Washed Out plays.  “Paracosm” has been streaming on the net and if you like Washed Out’s older stuff, you’ll definitely like the new record.  Thanks Ernest for being super cool!

Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd is one of the hottest DJs/Producers in the world.  His upcoming collaborations with Lady Gaga haven’t even been heard or released yet and they are already legendary!  More impressively, he’s only 23 years old (as of press time).  When I met him in New York last week, he asked me what I was up to for the weekend.  When I reciprocated, he told me that he was doing a DJ gig in Miami later that night (and this conversation took place in the early evening!)!!  Pretty cool to be jetsetting at such a young age, according2g!  I wish Zedd the best and I look forward to him conquering the dance world!  Cheers!
