If you can forgive the fact that I missed the first line of the song, you are about to see an emotionally charged rendition of “Halo” by Depeche Mode from Barclays Center in dreaded Brooklyn when the band performed here on September 6, 2013. This version is the Goldfrapp remix and it’s quite different from the original. It’s much more stripped down (to the bone) and a lot slower. I prefer the original version personally, but after avoiding seeing any setlists from the Delta Machine tour before watching the show unfold before my eyes, I joked on Facebook that they’d better play “Halo,” and lo and behold, they bloody well did! Wow!
You will rarely find a band as funky or as generous as Penguin Prison. Chris Glover and company have been making the international festival circuit and are back in the states. They will be opening for Neon Trees in July 2012, so make sure you go see them as you will have a great night!
In other Penguin Prison news, their new remix EP, “Fair Warning” is available for a limited time for FREE download!
It’s been a big week for dance group Swedish House Mafia. As you can see above, they are starring in an advertisement for Absolut Vodka, and if you head over to this link, for a limited time, you’ll be able to make your own SHM remix!
Good news Ssion fans! “Bent,” one of my favorite albums of 2011 will see a physical release on August 7, 2012 (including some re-worked tracks by Grimes and MNDR). Until then, here’s a free remix of Ssion’s “My Love Grows in the Dark” remixed by Nightfeelings. Enjoy!
