Every year, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has a different exhibit on the roof of the building. In previous years, Jeff Koons’ balloon dog was there as was a really cool installation by Roxy Paine. This year, the floor of the roof is a commission by Imran Qureshi. In theory, it is really cool. The roof of the met is quite large and the mural extends across most of it. In actuality, it looks like you’re stepping into a blood bath. I found myself wanting to get a mop and bucket and rinse off this gigantic stain.
The good thing is that it’s always a treat to head up to the roof of the Met because you get to see really amazing views of Manhattan and on a gorgeous day, it’s even better. But like the Punk exhibit, which is showing a few floors below, you should definitely not move heaven and earth to see either.
This commission runs through November 3, 2013 and can be seen permitting on the weather.
