Jake Shears and Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters

New York loves Scissor Sisters so much that the audience didn’t get enough on the first night, so the Sisters flipped it over and grilled it up again!  They played the second of two shows (the final US date on their 2012 Summer tour) at Terminal 5 in Manhattan on July 7, 2012.  If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Scissor Sisters, their show, as Ana Matronic said “will fuck you – hard!  But [you’ll] be respected in the morning.”  Truer words have never been spoken.  The Sisters give 150% at every show and whether you feel like dancin’ or not, you will be on your feet and shakin’ your moneymaker for the entire show.  Die-hards including myself braved hours of 100 degree weather to be in the front row to catch Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis and Baby Daddy let us have it – in the best possible way and they did not disappoint!  If you don’t have their latest album “Magic Hour,” get it get it and before you know it, you’ll be having a kiki!

Rye Rye at Terminal 5

Rye Rye!

On April 30, 2010, Baltimore based rapper Rye Rye (ne’ Ryeisha Barrain) opened for Gossip at New York’s Terminal 5.  Backed by 2 dancers and a DJ, Rye Rye rapped and danced for her entire 40 minute set.  I was exhausted just from watching her as she rapped and danced pretty fast.  She definitely got the sold-out crowd a little hot and sweaty to prepare us for Gossip.  Though her music would have probably not hooked me in, if I were to listen to that device that some call a radio, seeing her live turned me into a fan.  She was really great.  The only thing I didn’t care for was that her DJ got on the microphone to say “New York, make some noise!” about every 20 seconds throughout the entire set, which prompted the drunk girls next to me to follow that with “Baltimoooooore!” or “B. Mooooooore” every time.  Some fun facts about Rye Rye: she’s signed to MIA’s label N.E.E.T. Records, a division of Interscope and her debut album is set for release before the end of the summer.  The album is set to be called “Go! Pop! Bang!”  Look for it.
