January 19, 2011 was my second time seeing the very talented singer Samuel.  He opened for Fitz and the Tantrums for a sold out show at Bowery Ballroom in New York.  He did not disappoint!  His music is funky and soulful and it was great to see the Bowery rockin’ out along with Samuel.  He performed his soon to be classic songs “Champagne Kisses” and “I Heart New York” during his 40 minute set.  Speaking of “I Heart New York,” a video of that song will be coming soon so stay tuned.  When I post it, I dare you to sit still during this very funky love letter to the Big Apple.  While you wait patiently for the video, you can download a free MP3 of “I Heart New York,” courtesy of our friends at RCRD LBL.

New York based singer Samuel opened for Marina and the Diamonds for her debut performance in the United States on March 14, 2010 at the Bell House in Brooklyn.  His music fuses electro and hip hop and his voice is very soulful.  He was recently signed to Columbia Records, and while there is currently no release date scheduled for his debut album, he’s become a much sought-after guest vocalist and producer.  His track “I Heart New York,” is a glam love song to the city we all love so much.  You can download 2 free mp3s of Samuel doing guest vocals on the tracks “Fader” and “Starry Eyed” here.  Alternately, you can download a free mp3 of “Fader” on the Neon Gold Records official blog.

Samuel - easy to like, hard to find on Google.
