On January 23, 2012, UK Singer Rod Thomas, better known by his stage name Bright Light Bright Light performed at New York’s Cake Shop. If you’re not familiar with Bright Lightx2′s music, Rod Thomas’ voice is extremely soulful over great electronic beats. New York was in for many treats last night as Bright Light Bright Light changed things up in the best possible way. Rather than perform electronically, the entire show was a solo piano performance, which Rod Thomas admitted was a fun challenge as he performed his upcoming new album in full. Many of the songs, he said, were being played for the first time. Also making the night extra special was a rare guest vocal appearance from his album collaborator, Del Marquis, from Scissor Sisters who sang on “Cry at Films.” The video is below. The venue is fairly dark for extra vibe, so please keep that in mind as you groove to Bright Lightx2 and Del Marquis! Bright Light Bright Light‘s album will be available in the Spring, but while you wait for that day, his singles “Love Part II” and “Disco Moment” are available now for legal download.

This post will please my Sisters and my Durannies. On October 25, 2011, Duran Duran played Madison Square Garden. Joining them on stage for the song “Safe,” is none other than Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters! Just click play!

I finally got to see Scissor Sisters perform my favorite track off their amazing album “Night Work.” The song is “Sex and Violence” and they performed during the New Yorker Festival in Manhattan on October 1, 2011. You can read about the event here and you can also see the world premiere of their new song “San Luis Obispo” here. Thanks SS. Love you!
Happy birthday to Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. There are a million reasons I love this man. His music with Scissor Sisters makes me so happy! Every time one of their songs comes on, you want to suddenly throw yourself a dance party. He’s one of the best performers I’ve ever seen. Whether he’s performing at a small club or a stadium, he gives 1000%! The man has so much energy and he gives it all he’s got. I’ve seen Scissor Sisters so many times and I’ve never walked away from their shows feeling disappointed. He’s also a role model for gay men. He’s not afraid to show a little skin and he’s an advocate for freedom and self-expression. Last, but not least, he’s a very nice person. He’s always nice to fans. Always! I appreciate that so much. As he’s a big fan of music himself, he knows exactly how it could scar a fan for life for being a jerk to them. If you are unfamiliar with their music, and if you live in the USA, there’s a good chance you are – check it out immeditely. Jake is the real deal. Hope you have the happiest of birthdays Jake! Thanks for so many great times and for all the great music – past, present and future! xo
Scissor Sisters were in New York on October 1, 2011 at the New Yorker festival to talk about their career and play a nine song acoustic set! In addition to playing hits such as “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin,’” “Laura,” and “Fire With Fire,” the band also played “Sex and Violence” from their criminally underrated album “Night Work” and they also premiered a new song – “San Luis Obispo.” I know so many Scissor-heads that could not be in New York will want to see this video, so this is for you. If anyone in the band or SS management team wants me to take this video down, I will. My intention is to share the music, not rob from the artists, because I am a Scissor Sister – and so are you! If you like videos such as the one you are about to see, become a fan of this page and visit daily. I post world exclusive photos and/or videos all the time. 7 days a week, in fact.
