Photos by G. Art by Herb Alpert.
Sure you know the music of legendary musician Herb Alpert, but did you know he is also an accomplished artist? Many of his sculptures are on display at New York’s ACA Galleries and also 3 of his really large sculptures are on display at Dante Park (through mid-April 2014.)
You can’t see the detail in these works so it’s recommended you head over to the gallery to see Herb’s art with your own eyes.
Fun fact: Herb Alpert is the only artist to date that has topped the Billboard chart as an instrumentalist and a vocalist.
These works are on display at ACA Galleries (located at 529 West 20th Street, 5th Floor) in Manhattan through March 1, 2014.

Paul McCarthy at Hauser and Wirth. Looks just like what you think it looks like.
If you are a fan of artist Paul McCarthy and you live in New York, you’re hitting the mother lode in May and June 2013. Hauser and Wirth have two exhibits currently showing (and one will close and reopen with another in late June) and there additional sculptures and video installations on view. Click on Hauser and Wirth’s website to get a full run down of what is happening and where.

As you can see from this photo, these sculptures are gargantuan in size and they are filled with McCarthy’s signature subversive imagery. These aren’t the only two sculptures on display however. There are many more on display and they need to be seen in person to really grasp the magnitude of how awesome this exhibit it.
“Sculptures” by Paul McCarthy is on display through June 1, 2013 at Hauser and Wirth’s new space in Chelsea (located at 511 West 18th Street).
As a bonus, this is what you get to look at as you enter Hauser and Wirth in Chelsea.

Richard Serra and Geoffrey Dicker
Artist Richard Serra has created another must see exhibit. “Junction/Cycle” by Richard Serra is now showing at the Gagosian Gallery in New York (located at 555 West 24th Street). The huge gallery space is filled with two of Serra’s weatherproof steel sculptures and they have to be seen to be believed. You’ll wonder how the sculptures were made. You’ll wonder how are they transported and you’ll wonder how he was able to fit them inside a gallery. Walking through them is also a fun experience. The below photo is a tiny glimpse of what you will see, so I urge you to check out these fantastic sculptures in person. Richard Serra was in attendance for the opening night reception and I was very fortunate to get a chance to talk with him. If you are just discovering Serra’s name for the first time, I recommend you do some research and check out some aerial views of his sculptures. They are nothing short of amazing! Thanks to Richard Serra for being so cool during our encounter. If you are in the New York area, do not miss “Junction/Cycle” by Richard Serra, which runs at the Gagosian Gallery through November 26, 2011.
