Before you watch this video, here’s what I want to do: imagine a stadium full of people singing along to this song. Every time I hear “Born Free” by The Rassle, I picture that in my mind. I am looking forward to a time in the very near future when my vision comes true. On September 15, 2010, I got to see the Rassle perform this instant classic at an intimate show at New York’s Mercury Lounge. If you love this song, which I know you will, you still have the chance to download the studio version of “Born Free” as well as 3 other fantastic tracks from the Rassle for free on their official site. This offer won’t last long so head on over to their site and tell a friend! For the New Yorkers reading this site, The Rassle is playing another intimate gig tonight, September 17, 2010 at Webster Hall. You can get tickets here.

A few months ago, I turned you on to a free 4-track EP by New York based indie rockers The Rassle. Since then, the blog-o-sphere has been buzzing about this band and for great reason. I am loving their EP so much and I have been very excited to see them in concert. On September 15, 2010, I got my wish and I got to see The Rassle play a very intimate show at New York’s Mercury Lounge. They performed their entire EP as well as a new song that has not been released yet. I am very happy to say they rocked live as much as they do on record.
Blair Van Nort of The Rassle.
Their music to me sounds like a much more rockin’ version of MGMT and when I hear their songs, I can easily envision a stadium full of people singing along in unison. I am not a betting man, but if I were, I’d say that you are going to be hearing a lot more from The Rassle in the very near future. Front man Blair Van Nort has a great stage presence and the crowd was loving every second. I nearly lost control when they played my favorite song “Born Free,” but I held it together so I could take a video and share it with you. Stay tuned for that, it’s great! I met the band after their set and I gushed to each member how much I love their music. I’ll be posting pictures of my encounter with the band soon. I cannot wait for them to become household names! If you are in the New York area, they are playing at Webster Hall on September 17, 2010. You can get tickets at this link. Don’t miss your chance to see this band before they become huge!
