How cute is Ellie Goulding?  Very cute, according2g.  Watch this video to see why she’s about to take over the pop music world.  This was her first performance in New York and there’s going to be many more to come.

Ellie Goulding

British singer Ellie Goulding played her first ever New York show at Hiro Ballroom on September 30, 2010 and I was there to catch all the action.  Her music can be described as “folktronica” where it vacillates back and forth between pop, folk and dance.  The crowd loved her from the second the show started and the feeling of warmth grew as the show progressed.  Brooklyn’s own Penguin Prison opened the show (more on them shorty – stay tuned) and they were my initial draw to attend this show.  Penguin Prison were great once again and Ellie Goulding continued the trend of awesomeness with her set.

She told little stories in between songs and told the crowd numerous times how excited she was to be playing for us.  It was really cool.  Ellie also asked the crowd to put their arms in the air at random intervals because she said it looks cool from her vantage point with everyone’s arms in the air.  She played hits such as “Lights,” “The Writer,” and her smash “Starry Eyed.”  I met Ellie Goulding after the show and she was extremely nice. More on my encounter with her coming soon. If you like LaRoux or Little Boots, you’ll like Ellie Goulding and I wish her great success.
