Memoir: The Tattooed Portraits Series by Shawn Barber. Showing at Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC through July 28, 2012.
Los Angeles based artist Shawn Barber has a new exhibit at Joshua Liner Gallery in New York and it’s cool! “Memoir: The Tattooed Portraits Series” is presented in conjunction with the forthcoming hardcover release of a book with the same name. This is the third volume in Barber’s ongoing series documenting the world and artistry of contemporary tattoo, as seen through the eyes and art of a classically trained portrait painter as well as a tattooist for the last five years.
The works in the exhibit are extremely detailed so I urge you to check these out in person. I spoke with Shawn at the opening night reception and he was cool. We talked about his great art, Los Angeles – his current and my former home as well as some artist friends we have in common. Those topics always make for a great encounter with G. 🙂
“Memoir: The Tattooed Portraits Series” by Shawn Barber runs through July 28, 2012 at Joshua Liner Gallery (located at 548 West 28th Street, 3rd Floor) in New York. Don’t miss it!
