Harmony & Discord by Shepard Fairey. Now showing at Pace Prints in New York through June 16, 2012.
A couple of years ago in May, Shepard Fairey took over New York with public murals, stickers everywhere and a climactic gallery exhibit. Flash forward to May 2012 and Shepard is back in New York. His latest exhibit “Harmony and Discord” features new works, including the largest screen prints he’s done to date.

Harmony and Discord
If you’re a regular reader of this site (and I thank you for your patronage), you know that I love Shepard Fairey. After attending the opening for “Harmony and Discord,” I love him even more. Though he was in the center of a mob scene of fans wanting photos and signatures, Shepard Fairey was more than happy to chat with anyone and everyone around! One young lady asked him some advice as she is a budding artist and student and rather than give a short and curt answer, Shepard must have given her advice for 5 minutes! He was even giving fans stickers and when he handed them out, he gave advice of the best spots to put them up. That was extremely cool, according2g!

Harmony and Discord
Thanks again Shepard and congrats on another great exhibit. “Harmony and Discord” runs through June 16, 2012 at Pace Prints, located at 521 West 26th Street in New York. Obey!

Obey!
This is pretty rad. The LA Times is reporting that Shepard Fairey, who reimagined the book cover for George Orwell’s classic novel “1984″ several years ago is supposedly teaming up with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer in a new film adaptation of “1984.” The deal could land Fairey with a producer credit when the film comes to fruition. Maybe they’ll do a newer version of “They Live” as well. Obey!

Shepard Fairey (on the right) - Hope (above)
Although Shepard Fairey’s civil case with the Associated Press over the “Obama Hope” image has been settled in 2011, there’s still the criminal case. Shepard has pleaded guilty to one count of criminal contempt for destroying documents, manufacturing evidence and other misconduct in his case involving his “Hope” poster of Barack Obama. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison, a $5000 fine and a maximum term of supervised release of one year.
Good luck Shepard. Thanks to LA Times for the tip.

Shepard Fairey at the Weho Library
The recently opened West Hollwood public library is cool, not just because it looks great and has vaulable information inside, but as a bonus – the parking structure features art by Shepard Fairey and Kenny Scharf! So awesome!
