New York!  Head over to the Jonathan LeVine Gallery for not one but 3 great exhibits all housed under one roof.  First is “Future Primitive” by Tokyo-based artist Haroshi.  He reappropriated used skateboards to make sculptures and mosaics!  You can’t possibly see the detail in these photos, so I urge you to see these works of art in person.  From a moose head sculpture to a mosaic of video game hero Mario, you’ll definitely be wowed.  You can see more photos of Haroshi’s work on The Worley Gig.

In the second gallery, California-based Souther Salazar is presenting “You Come Too,” which are new works by the artist.  Salazar’s work transports the viewer into a whimsical world full of flying spacecrafts, hot-air balloons and lost cities inhabited by a variety of creatures such as dinosaurs and giant insects. He mixes media, adding layers of assemblage and storytelling to create his imaginative two and three-dimensional imagery.

Last, but not least, in gallery 3, Los Angeles based artist Van Arno, is showing new works in an exhibit entitled “The Minstrel Cycle.”   Arno draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including real and imagined historical events, the surprising true lives of entertainers, blues and hip-hop lyrics, multi-cultural folklore and Afro-Caribbean mysticism.

All three exhibits are showing at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York until May 14, 2011.  The Jonathan LeVine Gallery is located at 529 West 20th Street, 9th Floor in Manhattan.  Don’t miss it!
