Roger Clemens

Roger Clemens

This post is free of steroids and I will testify to it in front of a committee and unlike a certain birthday boy, I’ll be telling the truth!  Roger “The Rocket” Clemens was born today.  It used to be a big thrill for me to watch him pitch, but part of the reason he was so good was because he was taking performance enhancing drugs.  These arrogant baseball players may preach that they love the Lord, but what they really like are drugs.  I refuse to watch baseball anymore for a bunch of reasons, but one of them is that I’ve met nearly all of the greats and it’s amazing to me how many of them have been total jerks.  I’ve met people much more famous on the global scale and as a general rule, they’ve been much nicer, so I’ll spend my hard earned money on them and not these jocks who in the best of times, hit the ball 3 out of every 10 times they have the opportunity to.  I am hopeful that a judge will make all these greedy players payback the moneys that fans spent on tickets to watch them perform, since we were lied to and left under the impression that we were paying to watch true talent, not a bunch of juicers.  Take a stand!

Also born today, Barack Obama.  Wonder what kinds of drugs he takes?  Probably not truth serum.

One of basketball’s all time greatest players, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar celebrates his birthday today.  Kareem is 7 feet 2 inches tall and every time I’ve met him, I felt like a midget.

Also born today:  singer Dusty Springfield, composer Henry Mancini, actor Charlie Chaplin and aviator Wilbur Wright.
