I’ve seen several exhibits by Lego brick artist Nathan Sawaya before (“Red” and “In Pieces“) and I’ve really loved them, but his most recent showing “The Art of the Brick” in Times Square takes the cake for awesomeness.  Sawaya has used over 1.2 million legos in his sculptures and the exhibit will appeal to people of all ages.

Aside from his mind-blowing sculptures, where nearly every one of them on display – and there are over 100 – will make you think “how did he do that?” possibly what I liked the best was the way the exhibit was laid out.  As you walk in, you are in a museum like atmosphere where you see Sawaya’s renderings of some of the most iconic paintings and sculptures of all time.

As the sculptures are made of Legos, the exhibit will surely be a big hit with children, who may be too young to appreciate art.  By seeing these works, Sawaya potentially exposes and inspires a new generation to explore the vast world of art, and for that alone you should definitely take the kids to see this exhibit.

After seeing Lego-versions of The Mona Lisa, Starry Night and so many other classics, you will see a bunch of Lego sculptures that will blow your mind.  For example:

I don’t want to spoil the exhibit for you by showing too many pictures, but as you can see from the photos that have been posted, you should not miss this exhibit!!!
