I think these guys are going to be huge stars!  This video captures a tiny little bit of the magic I witnessed at the Mercury Lounge on July 8, 2010 when Stornoway played their first ever show in Manhattan!  Make sure to go to Stornoway’s official site for a free mp3 of the studio version of “On The Rocks.”  The clip opens as lead singer Brian Briggs is saying that in a few short hours, the band will be going back home to England and asks our advice as to what they need to see before they go.  I don’t think anything could be more precious!  Tell us your thoughts!

As I mentioned previously, British indie-folk band Stornoway are poised to become a huge success.  I was lucky enough to meet most of the band after their debut performance in New York City (they played in Brooklyn a few nights ago) on July 8, 2010.  The band is both a treat for the ears and the eyes as you can see in these pictures.  They were all extremely nice and I am very grateful for our encounter!  Their debut album “Beachcombers Windowsill” will be out in the States soon, so keep a lookout for this band.  Also, if you go to their official site, you can download a free mp3 of “On The Rocks.”  Thanks again guys!  Looking forward to seeing your names and faces all over the place!

Brian Briggs of Stornoway

British indie-folk band Stornoway played their second ever show in North America on July 8, 2010 at New York’s Mercury Lounge (their first gig in Manhattan).  If the crowd reaction is any indication of their future success, this band is going to be HUGE!  Their music is extremely catchy and the members of the band are totally gorgeous!  Everyone in the Mercury Lounge was on sensory overload as this band is a treat for both the ears and eyes.  Lead singer Brian Briggs told hilarious anecdotes in between each song and his delivery kept the audience in stitches.  Across the street from the Mercury Lounge, a really huge building had caught on fire and it was quite a scene as we entered the venue.  As Brian Briggs mentioned this spectacle, he asked the audience what our favorite song about fire was, before launching into a spot on impression of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”  The band played the fire-themed “Fuel Up,” right afterwards.  There were so many highlights to mention, but I think my favorite part of the show was the last two songs, which were played acoustic.  They didn’t use microphones on these final two numbers and the audience watched in rapt amazement.  If you go to Stornoway‘s official site, you can sign up on their mailing list and get a free mp3 of the song “On The Rocks,” which I highly recommend.  Their album “Beachcomber’s Windowsill” is out in the UK and Europe, but will not be released in the US for a few more weeks. Speaking of “On The Rocks,” I took a video of that song and it’ll be posted in the near future.  Stay tuned!  Keep your eye on this band, I have a feeling you’re going to be hearing a lot more about them. I met 3 out of the 4 members after the show and they were all extremely nice.  Pictures coming soon, and trust me ladies and gays, you won’t want to miss them!

See a few more pictures of Stornoway as well as the set list after the jump.
