The studio version of “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” by Tame Impala is my favorite song of 2012 by a mile!

Here’s a live version, my lovelies!

I’m not asking for your sympathy, but just know I walked over a mile in a blizzard, had subway delays, had to transfer to 3 different subway lines (due to said delay) and had to sneak this recording because security at this venue all of a sudden doesn’t allow videos (and just check the archives for proof they used to!)… JUST FOR YOU!

Hope you enjoy!

Australia’s psychedelic rock band Tame Impala is back!  They announced a last minute somewhat secret show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg that took place on August 7, 2012.  The band was in the area, relatively speaking, after playing the Lollapalooza festival last weekend.  The group has a new LP called “Lonerism” which is coming out later this year and the band previewed two tracks from the record.  One of those songs is called “Elephant,” and it kicks ass!  If you don’t believe me, just press play!  And if you want to see the set list, see it after the jump.

If you are not familiar with the psychedelic grooves of Australian rockers Tame Impala, you should acquaint yourself immediately.  Sonically you’ll hear the music of Cream meets Pink Floyd and vocally you’ll hear a mixture of John Lennon and George Harrison of the Beatles!  I have been pretty much obsessed with their album “Innerspeaker” and on May 27, 2011, it will be reissued with a bonus disc of goodies!

The tracklist via Pitchfork Media is:

Innerspeaker Deluxe Edition:

Disc 1 (Original Album):

01 It Is Not Meant to Be
02 Desire Be Desire Go
03 Alter Ego
04 Lucidity
05 Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind?
06 Solitude Is Bliss
07 Jeremy’s Storm
08 Expectation
09 The Bold Arrow of Time
10 Runway, Houses, City, Clouds
11 I Don’t Really Mind

Disc 2 (Extraspeaker):

01 Sundown Syndrome
02 Remember Me
03 Half Full Glass of Wine
04 Wander
05 Why Won’t You Make up Your Mind? (Erol Alkan Rework)
06 Lucidity (Pilooski Remix)
07 Solitude Is Bliss (Mickey Moonlight T.A.M. Remix)
08 41 Mojitos (Canyons Poolside Dub)
09 Sunrise Reprise

If you haven’t become a die-hard fan of Australian rockers Tame Impala, I cannot recommend highly enough that you check out their album “Innerspeaker.”  Sonically they are a cross between the psychedelic era of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Cream.  I can’t get enough of them.  They performed a sold out show at New York’s Webster Hall on April 25, 2011 and here’s a sample of what you missed.  Please note, on the screens behind the band, the lasers are programmed to react to the music!  So cool!

And now enjoy, “Alter Ego,” live by Tame Impala.
