Congratulations to The Flaming Lips for breaking a world record (previously set by Jay-Z) for the most performances in different cities in a 24 hour period.
Lead singer Wayne Coyne was quoted as saying: “To be able to pick up this silly drinking book– after all, Guinness is a beer– this funny book that when I was growing up was a curiosity. To be published alongside the man who ate 22 pounds of his own boogers, beside the woman with the longest toenails or perhaps even to be published beside an individual who has had maybe 1000 cockroaches stuffed into their ears… that, to me, would be one of life’s absurd joys.”
Want to hear The Flaming Lips’ lead singer Wanye Coyne sing your name in a song? Of course you do!
Make your dream come true AND help out a good cause at the same time.
The Flaming Lips are recording an epic six hour long track called ‘Found A Star On The Ground’ to raise money for both the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Before you press play, let me warn you to turn your volume way down! Coupled with the fact that the clip I captured is a pretty dissonant tune, the sound at Terminal 5 really sucks and the limitations of a non-pro camera you might get a headache. But the visual is insane! This all happened within the first ten minutes of The Flaming Lips’ show at Terminal 5 in New York on July 27, 2010 and I’ll let the video speak for itself. It was a wild night that will live on in the history books!
"Is this all a dream or is it reality? It sure feels like a dream." - Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips
As I mentioned previously, The Flaming Lips show at Terminal 5 in New York is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and coming from me – that is saying a lot! You owe it to yourself to catch them live when they come to your town!! See more photos from this incredible night here.
