Tweet this: The Social Network for Best Picture of 2010.

Finally – a movie with witty dialogue, zero gun shots that actually has a plot!  “The Social Network” was awesome on so many levels:  great writing, great acting, interesting story and fantastic score (co-scored by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails).  For so many of us that use Facebook, it was surprising how little I knew about the creation of it as well as the people involved in the process.  I can imagine you’ll probably have the same reaction.  I have no idea how great Jesse Eisenberg’s performance as Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg really is since I have no frame of reference.  However, what Eisenberg does convey is that Mark Zuckerberg is a brainiac with almost zero social skills, zero interest in taking over the world and instead is just a pretty lovable computer geek who just wants to out-geek everyone else.  I won’t ruin the plot for you by revealing too much because I often think, the less you know, the better the film.  I was purely entertained, I laughed and I learned something from watching “The Social Network,” something that cannot be said about most movies I’ve seen this year.  If I can find a “like” button, I’ll definitely click on it.

The other day, I met the fabulous producer Aaron Sorkin.  He’s produced TV shows such as “The West Wing” and movies such as “A Few Good Men.”  He wrote “The Social Network,” which comes out today – October 1, 2010.  It’s been a while since I was excited to see a film, but I am really looking forward to this one.  Thanks again for being cool Mr. Sorkin and good luck with “The Social Network.”  I’ve seen lots of status updates mentioning this film with the phrase “Oscar buzz.”

The other day, I ran into actor Armie Hammer.  He’s in “The Social Network,” which I am excited to see this weekend.  He’s also the grandson of Armand Hammer.  I wish I would have put two and two together when I saw him.  I am a Los Angeles native and I recently visited the Armand Hammer Museum for the first time about a month ago.  They had a great exhibit by Friedrich Kunath.  The museum was really excellent as well.  Oh well.  I also was probably distracted by Armie’s good looks as I also didn’t recognize his wife, TV personality Elizabeth Chambers, who happily volunteered to take a photo of Armie and myself.  Thanks to both Elizabeth and Armie for being so cool.  “The Social Network” is out on October 1, 2010.

You win some, you lose some.  Due to a complicated scheduling issue today, I was unable to attend an advanced screening of “The Social Network.”  I really wanted to meet Justin Timberlake though so I stuck around.  He unfortunately completely ignored little ole G, but I did meet the film’s star Jesse Eisenberg.  He was super cool.  Thanks Jesse!  I cannot wait to see this movie.  “The Social Network,” is released on October 1, 2010.  You can use that as your status update.

I love when I come across the latest in Moustache Art.  Once upon a time, this artist improved Sheryl Crow’s look, but it could not save her god-awful album from being a lead balloon on the charts.  Now the artist has improved the poster art for “The Social Network,” aka the Facebook movie.

Speaking of that movie, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is offering a free 5 track download of music from the movie at this link.  Feel free to post the link to this story as your status update.  If you do, I’ll swing by and click the “like” button.
