Here’s a nice Friday treat. A world-exclusive preview of the latest track by Jim Emmons. Your favorite blogger G wrote the lyrics for this new jam called “Mantra.” This song is taken from the forthcoming album “Throwing Stars,” and we hope you like it as much as we do.

Mantra

When I get up on Sunday morning
I can never find anything to wear
So I pull the covers over my head
Wishing you were there
The last time we saw each other
I thought we had so much fun
It seemed like a religious experience
Every time we made each other come

I don’t like to pray because I’m detached from the outcome
And I don’t have a mantra but I keep saying
I love you, baby
I love you, baby

Can I get an amen?
Can I watch you take you off your clothes?
Let’s play in the garden like they did before there was sin
You don’t have to take me to Tibet to make me believe
As long as I can make you scream like that
I know you’ll never want to leave.

I don’t like to pray because I’m detached from the outcome
And I don’t have a mantra but I keep saying
I love you
I love you

Open up your books
And turn to page 20, chapter 35
There’s a verse that I wanna tell you about
To keep your love alive
It says “If you ever think about looking left, or looking right,
Just remember the love we make tonight”

Repeat it over and over
Until you believe the words
It’s sort of like a mantra
Or another way of saying
I love you, baby.

I love you, baby.
