On April 17, 2011, two members of the band Editors (Tom and Russell) will run the London Marathon and donate all moneys raised to Oxfam to help save lives.

Oxfam face many hurdles and struggles in the work they do.  Their life-saving work is an amazing thing and for us to challenge ourselves in a different way and commit to a marathon hopefully will raise money and awareness to a charity we support very much.

All the money you donate will support Oxfam’s programmes in Honduras, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka.

If you’re interested in seeing how your money will make a huge difference, please check out:

You can help this wonderful cause by donating anything you can at this link.

I’m so excited! Straight out of lead singer Tom Smith’s mouth, his band Editors will be releasing a career spanning box set in February 2011.  Though the band has only released 3 albums, they have tons of B-sides and unreleased tracks.  The 7 cd set (wow!) will be available for pre-order beginning December 2, 2010 on the Editors official website.  Tom Smith has also stated the band is working on a 4th album, so stay tuned for that.  Last but not least, quoting Tom, the collection will contain “Seven 12  heavy weight vinyls, seven CDs, a download of everything in high quality 320kbps mp3 format and a book of photos and words. It’s gonna be sexy.”  The first 200 pre-orders will receive a special personalised surprise from Tom.  Also, between now and February Editors are also selecting some special content that you can access and download for free by simply entering your email address on

Funky Joy Division – The Editors live at Terminal 5

The Editors live at Terminal 5

The good thing about being open-minded is when you have a new experience, you can let yourself be free to witness the unknown and form your opinions later.  When I saw The Editors on February 19, 2010 at New York’s Terminal 5, I didn’t really know what to expect.  They’ve been around since 2002, and while I knew their name, I didn’t really know much of their music.  What little I had heard made me decide to take a chance and see them live.  I walked into the show as a blank slate and from the second The Editors came on stage (at 9:40 pm) until they exited (around 11:00 pm), they colored my slate with love.  They were so awesome live, as I write these words, I wish the show was still going on.  They needed no backdrops and fancy lights to show the crowd that they rock.  Instead, lead singer Tom Smith played guitar, piano and keyboards (sometimes multiple instruments during a song).  His voice sounds scarily like Ian Curtis from Joy Division and musically, if you take the best and funkiest moments The Killers have and meld it all together, you have Funky Joy Division.  I’m keeping this review short because I need to switch over to and buy all of their albums immediately.
