On January 21, 2011, Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club performed their biggest show yet in New York at Terminal 5.  It was really amazing to see 3,000 people having a dance party while TDCC played their entire “Tourist History” album.  One of my favorite songs of the night was their closing number “I Can Talk.”  It looked and sounded exactly like this…

Turn your speakers up, put your dancing shoes on and press play!

Two Door Cinema Club

I was so excited to see Two Door Cinema Club performing a sold out show at New York’s Terminal 5 on January 21, 2011.  I saw their first ever show in New York last year at a much smaller venue (Bowery Ballroom) and it was so great to see them performing for 3,000 people!  Their debut album “Tourist History” was one of my favorite albums of 2010 and I have worn out that record from playing it so much.  Lucky for all of us, TDCC played the entire album as well as the b-sides “Kids,” “Hands Off My Cash, Monty,” and “Costume Party.”  They also played a new track called “Handshake” and a video of that song will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

The album “Tourist History” is such a fun party record as all the songs are upbeat and it was so awesome to see the entire Terminal 5 partying along with the band.  I am really looking forward to hearing their new stuff if the track “Handshake” is a preview of things to come.  As I was leaving the venue, my uncanny sense of great timing helped me through again and I met two members of Two Door Cinema Club.  I got the chance to tell them how great I think they are and they were really thankful for my support.  I also mentioned that it was great to see audience sing-a-longs during b-sides!  Thanks Two Door Cinema Club for such a great night!

Thanks to the security guard for the photo!

The setlist was:

Cigarettes in the Theater / Undercover Martyn / Hands Off My Cash, Monty / Do You Want It All / Something Good Can Work / Handshake / This Is The Life / Kids / You’re Not Stubborn / Costume Party / What You Know / Eat That Up It’s Good For You / Come Back Home / I Can Talk

As 2010 draws to a close, I can say that it’s been a good year for music.  After seeing literally hundreds of acts this year, it is my duty to share some of my favorites with you.  Below see my 13 of my favorite new bands/artists of 2010.

Delphic. If you like New Order, you’ll love Delphic. Check out “Red Lights”

Young Empires.  Check out the disco-punk band performing “Against the Wall”

Two Door Cinema Club. The sound on “Something Good Can Work” is very bass heavy, so definitely seek out a cleaner version of this amazing song.

The Rassle. Take a drive, roll the windows down and sing “Born Free” at the top of your lungs! It’s a great experience.

Dan Black. The following clip of “Yours” is performed acoustically, so imagine what the dancey studio version sounds like. Don’t just imagine… find out!

Penguin Prison. If you like pop and soul with guitar, you can’t go wrong with Penguin Prison.

Wild Nothing. If you like The Smiths, you’re going to love Wild Nothing.

MNDR. If you love pre-botox Madonna, MNDR will be your thing. Here’s “Sparrow” and “Fade to Black” performed with Mark Ronson!

JBM. Jesse Marchant’s voice is so beautiful you might find yourself crying. But they’ll be tears of joy.

Hanni El Khatib. Rock and roll is not dead and Hanni El Khatib proves it!

Tame Impala. If you like the Beatles psychedelic era, you’ll love these Australian rockers. Check out “Solitude is Bliss”

Male Bonding. The punk trio from the UK rock. Hard! They are so awesome live too. This is their track “Weird Feelings.”

Future Relative. Check out their cover of Bjork’s “Army of Me.”
