Neil LaBute and G
Neil LaBute is arguably the best modern playwright alive. His stories are edgy and his unsettling portrayals of human relationships have won him legions of fans across the globe. He’s also an accomplished director (“Nurse Betty,” “The Wicker Man,” “Death At A Funeral,”) and screenwriter. On July 26, 2010, Neil LaBute was reading from his latest collection Filthy Talk For Troubled Times and Other Plays at the Drama Bookshop in New York. Like his stories, Neil LaBute was extremely funny as he alternated between reading passages from his book, answering questions from the audience and also treating us to unheard work! I took a video of him reading his as yet unreleased short story “Anything You Like,” and it’ll be posted here soon, so stay tuned! He also talked about possibly collaborating with Elvis Costello on a musical in the future and the prospect of that had the crowd squealing with delight. I met Neil LaBute after his talk and he was extremely nice. Thanks again Neil and I really hope to see the LaBute/Costello production coming soon!

Jeff Beck and Sting!
Jeff Beck news first… Jeff is on the cover of the new Rolling Stone along with Eric Clapton and he dishes on the Unreleased Motown Album he recorded in the 70s. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like that album will be coming out any time soon.
Sting news…. Sting has announced a tour where he’ll be reimagining his classic songs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The full details of the tour have not been released yet, but you can click here to see what is already set in stone.
The picture of Jeff Beck and Sting together was taken at the second night of the now infamous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert as they performed “People Get Ready.” I was there for both nights and every minute of the twelve hour plus show was legendary.
