I love 80s music. I grew up in the 80s and while most kids were playing with Barbie’s and GI Joe’s, I was building a massive music collection. I was really up on the scene for a kid and I feel that not too many bands got past me. Then today I popped in a CD my friend gave me for Christmas. The note on the disc said “Awesome 80s dance/rock. CLASSIC!” When I popped in the first of 2 CDs in “The 415 Sessions” by Until December, my first impression was “Wow! Such an 80s throwback band, but I love it instantly.” I went online to find out everything I could about this band and they are from 1985! That explains the sound, but it’s a mystery how I let didn’t let this band penetrate my radar! All the songs are fast and rockin’ and the vocals sound to me what it would have been like if Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails were in an 80s dance/post-punk band. In addition to containing most every song the band recorded in their way too brief career, the set also features covers of Blondie’s “Call Me,” and Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead.” The second disc features remixes and extended versions of their singles. I thank my friend for turning me onto Until December, and if you were unfamiliar with them, I highly recommend you get to know their music. It’s great! “The 415 Sessions” by Until December is out now on Wounded Bird Records/Sony Music.
