Tara Donovan 2014

Untitled by Tara Donovan 2014

The only thing uninteresting and boring about Tara Donovan’s 2014 solo show at Pace Gallery is the title of the show which is “Tara Donovan” and the title of the work you see above is called “Untitled.”  Sigh.  But if you take a closer look at “Untitled,” you will see that these gigantic sculptures are made out of index cards.  Yes.  There are literally several million 3x5s arranged in every which way in these untitled mountains!  Let’s take a closer look.

And lets zoom in a little more.

An even closer look.

Wow!!!!  For someone who has tens of thousands of autographed 3x5s, I am VERY IMPRESSED!

In the second room, another excellent work, sadly also titled “Untitled” is on display.

This sculpture is made with thousands of acrylic rods and is even cooler to look at in person.

Come up with your own names for these excellent sculptures by visiting Tara Donovan at Pace Gallery (located at 534 West 25th Street) in Manhattan through June 28, 2014.

New York!  Be on the lookout for mind bending images from Anthony Sneed on the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn.  I first saw these untitled ‘shadow pieces’ as part of Anthony Sneed’s “Hell For Hire” exhibit and fell instantly in love.  I enjoyed watching at least 5 people try and figure out why I was staring and taking pictures of a light pole today.  Thanks to Anthony Sneed for keeping the streets trippy!
