Sad news! New York artist, poet and former Warhol Superstar Taylor Mead has died at age 88. Taylor was a great lover of art and you’d often see him in Downtown Manhattan supporting his friends and local artists. He could also be spotted at the Bowery Poetry Club reciting verse. I can’t believe we won’t be seeing him around anymore, but his spirit will live on forever in New York. RIP Taylor.

Taylor Mead and G.
It’s not every day that one gets to be in the presence of one of Andy Warhol’s superstars. In this case, the superstar was Taylor Mead. The 80+ Mead still performs weekly at the Bowery Poetry Club in New York. Andy Warhol directed “Taylor Mead’s Ass” in 1964 at The Factory in response to a bad review of Mead’s performance in the Warhol directed “Tarzan and Jane Regained… Sort of” in which they stated, “nobody wants to see an hour and a half of Taylor Mead’s ass.” The film, as you might have guessed, consists solely of shots of Taylor Mead’s buttocks. But (bad choice of words), he was anything but an ass (another bad choice of words) when he posed for this picture with me. Thanks Taylor. Keep on rockin’!
