Fans of Sonic Youth and Kim Gordon that live in the New York area are going to really love her exhibit “Design Office With Kim Gordon – Since 1980” at White Columns. The exhibit showcases many disciplines in Kim Gordon’s art from paintings to sculpture to video installations.
The title of the exhibit references Kim Gordon’s first exhibit at White Columns and this exhibit showcases works created between 1980 and 2013. My favorite piece in the exhibit was a tweet she painted quoting art critic Jerry Saltz, discussing Jeff Koons that says “Pretend Jeff Koons is an artist.” Too funny!
I was fortunate enough to meet Kim Gordon at the opening night reception and she was nice enough to take a picture with me. Thanks Kim!
