New York!  Block off these dates:  October 13 – 16, 2011 and save them for the return of The Creators Project.  Details are still to be finalized but what is known so far is the 3 day event will take place at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn and a “psycho-opera” featuring Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs will debut.

I attended the Creators Project in 2010 and it was one of the best events I’ve ever been to in my life!  It was over 12 hours of art and music and featured performances by The Rapture, Mark Ronson, Interpol, MIA, Gang Gang Dance, Sleigh Bells, Die Antwoord, Tame Impala and many more great artists.  I am very excited.  Stay tuned to The Creators Project’s blog for more details.

Nick Zinner at Anastasia Photo in New York. Now showing through May 31, 2011

Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist and co-founder Nick Zinner is currently displaying a few of his photos at Anastasia Photo in New York.  The photos are taken by Nick from the stage at YYY’s concerts. It’s a fun juxtaposition as the crowd is performing for him and not the other way around as is the case when the lights go down and the band hits the stage.

These works are on display at Anastasia Photo (located at 166 Orchard Street) in New York through May 31, 2011.

Karen O showering the audience with love!

Happy birthday to Yeah Yeah Yeahs front woman Karen O, this November 22nd.  Yeah Yeah Yeahs celebrated their 10th anniversary as a band earlier this year which means Karen O was rockin’ at the ripe age of 22!  That makes her even more amazing, according2g.  I saw Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform last year and as you can see above, Karen O showered the audience with love.  Happy birthday Ms. O!

Timing is everything!  On September 24, 2010, I was on my way to an appointment when I happened by Mercury Lounge.  Rumours are circulating throughout New York that Yeah Yeah Yeahs are performing a secret show to celebrate their 10th anniversary tonight.  As always, the rumours were true.  As I was walking past the venue, lead singer Karen O was walking into the building!  Wow!  I’ve had some pretty good timing before, but this really takes the cake!  She was super cool and I congratulated her on 10 awesome years.  Thanks Karen and here’s to 10 more!

Nick Zinner is the kind of artist we all dream of becoming.  He’s the guitarist for the uber-successful band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, he’s produced songs for Ronnie Spector and TV On The Radio and he’s done remixes for Bloc Party.  He’s also an accomplished photographer, who has published 3 books of his work.  For the health conscious who are not impressed with the above credentials, he’s a vegan!  When I met Nick Zinner, he was extremely nice as you can see from the above photo.  I met him at the launch party for The Creators Project in New York, which goes down in G history as one of the most epic events I’ve ever been to.  He had some of his works on display, which you can see after the jump.  But first let me set the stage.  You walked into a darkened room where ambient music was playing and each of his pictures were lit from behind as you walked through the room to get to the next image.  It was really cool.  Thanks again Nick!
