Led Zeppelin’s “Celebration Day” – One Night Only at the Ziegfeld in NYC.

You’d think after meeting Morrissey, my night would not get any better (or hell, the decade for that matter), but it did.  Thanks to a tip (much obliged, Joe!) I found out that Led Zeppelin was in New York to attend the premiere of their concert film “Celebration Day” at the Ziegfeld Theatre, which is footage of their one off 2007 reunion gig.  Knowing (and I was right) that the band would be utterly mobbed, I still decided to stick around to see them in person because how often do you get to see Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones in the same place at the same time?  Not very often!  Unfortunately, all the members of Led Zeppelin were surrounded by bodyguards and ran straight to their cars, so these are possibly the worst quality photos I’ve ever posted, but what can ya do?

Also spotted at the premiere were artist Jeff Koons, Paul Stanley from Kiss, Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks.  Whoa!  What a night!

Though I am admittedly not the biggest fan of Disney films, I am definitely a fan of free tickets, free popcorn and afterparties.  A screening of Princess and the Frog, the other night at New York’s legendary Ziegfeld theater was no exception.  The movie is allegedly the true story of the Princess and the Frog, the famous fairy tale where the Princess kisses a frog and he turns into a prince.  This story, set in New Orleans, had a little more Oprah, creole food, voodoo and fat people involved.  Still the movie was cute – if you like that sort of thing.  The afterparty, held at another famous New York landmark – the Roseland Ballroom – spared no expense to be a wonderland for children.  There were famous Disney princesses (such as Sleeping Beauty, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the chick from Aladdin) to take pictures with very excited children, there was a Disney memorabilia hall of fame and there were all kinds of arts and crafts for children and children who never grew up to make.

The film opens later this month.
